One Man’s Garbage is Another Man’s Treasure.

And with devices, you have no idea how true that is.

But hey, let’s be honest, we’re all buying used gadgets because it’s cheaper!

So how to tell if you’re getting the best deal.

Here are some steps you can take to know:

  • Get general sales price on Craigslist and eBay buy it now price.
  • What does a refurbished of the same unit cost?  Many times this is the better deal because you also get warranty and it’s refurbished!
  • If no comparable units/prices can be found.   One of two rules apply… 1. it’s going to cost you an arm and a leg because of its rarity.  OR  2. they really don’t want it and willing to give it to you free!!!
  • Finally your estimate, based on what it was retail and what’s selling that is comparable.

In Conclusion: Becareful in instances where you’re emotionally driven to buy it.  That could cost you an arm AND a leg.  So do your homework, ask yourself if you really want it then set on a price that’s reasonable and go find it!   Be patient though because being patient will pay off in every case.
